It really depends how long you like to wear your necklaces or chains. A size 16" lies slightly above the collar bone (sort of like a choker), size 17" is an inch longer and 18" is another inch longer. Most women do not wear larger than 18". Expect updates soon with a better way to measure you necklace/chain size.
Nickel free means that the item does not contain the metal nickel. Nickel is a metal that can be found in some pieces of jewelry. Some people are allergic to nickel. Look for 925 or sterling silver as indication of nickel free jewelry.
